About Prairie's Edge & Shawn Eldredge

Prairie's Edge was established to give waterfowlers the opportunity to experience exceptional duck and goose hunting on the Mississippi Flyway... one of the largest duck and goose concentrations and migration routes in North America. Hundreds of thousands of Canada geese, ducks and snow geese travel through and stay in Missouri every Fall with very little hunting pressure. Additionally, over the past 10 years the local Canada geese population has also exploded providing some tremendous early season shooting!

All field hunts are out of new HayBale, Final Approach or Destroyer lay down blinds and within 80 miles of a major metro area (with airport) and all of the hunts take place on private leased agricultural fields which have been selected to ensure excellent hunting during the early, mid, and late parts of the season.

Additionally, in 2000 we added the opportunity to hunt ducks and geese over flooded grain fields from heated pit blinds in NW Missouri. This provided some exceptional shooting!

All of our hunts are conducted in a safe, legal and ethical way.

Each of our experienced guides is tried and tested and known for their congeniality, skill, and professionalism. They are true conservationists and extremely knowledgeable of the waterfowl they pursue and the areas they hunt. Additionally, each is an expert caller and pays the closest of attention to every detail; incorporating the very latest hunting techniques in flagging, kites and realistic decoy spreads, using state of the art decoys.

Because we encourage getting young people involved in this great sport, any accompanied child 15 years of age or younger hunts FREE in central Iowa and 1/2 price on our outpost hunts (Minnesota, SW Iowa, and Missouri)!!

Your host, Shawn Eldredge has nearly 30 years of Mississippi Flyway goose hunting experience.  Along with his Chocolate Lab "Amber Bock Marie" and his yellow lab Molly "Cornflake", Shawn looks forward to showing you a very memorable hunting trip.

Meet the Guides

Shawn Eldredge - Your Host, Shawn Eldredge has over 30 years of Mississippi Flyway Duck and goose hunting experience.  Come along with his Yellow Lab "Molly Cornflake" and chocolate lab Amber Bock, who along with Shawn will show you a very memorable hunting trip.  Shawn has been guiding waterfowl for 21+ years, Shawn with is loyal group of guides promise to provide you an experience in the field you will be talking about for years to come.

Jeremy Marean – Jeremy and Shawn work together for not only Waterfowl, but also for guiding Deer and Turkey in Missouri and Iowa.  Jeremy has 9 years of guiding experience and has owned and operated River Bottom Guide Service for the past 10 years. 

Matt Cowden – Matt has a deep knowledge when it comes to guiding for waterfowl.  Matt has been guiding for Prairies Edge for eight seasons and with his unique sounds on his conventional snow goose call he racks up big numbers for our clients.

Molly Cornflake – Molly has been a working dog for the past 8 years.  She is always at Shawn’s side either in the field or riding shotgun while pounding the gravel roads while scouting.

Amber Bock Marie – Amber just turned 1 year old and will be making her debut with Minnesota and Iowa honkers and ducks in September 2011.

Josh Dehn – Josh lives in the heart of metro Honker Mecca, just outside of Minneapolis, MN. Josh started working with Prairie's Edge when he was 16 years old. In 1997, the second season Prairie's Edge was running guided conservation hunts for Snows and Blues, Josh cut his teeth on the wily white bird and has been honing his skills ever since.

Jason Youngquist – Jason has been pursuing waterfowl for over 40 years. He has been dialing in and perfecting his Snow Goose skills by hunting them in the fall as well as the conservation season. Jason is so into killin' snows he has invented his own style of flyer decoy.
